We welcome photographer, animator, filmmaker, drone pilot and all-round technical wizard Isaac Watkins to our team as our new video producer! Get to know more about him below:

From an early age I have had an interest in photography as growing up my dad was a photographer, so I would help him with wedding photography, later branching out to using video.

This soon grew to encompass almost every part of the media pipeline – everything from aerial video with drones to 3D visualisation.

After I graduated with a first class degree in CGI and visual effects, I worked for a marketing agency. My responsibilities included filming, photography and 3d visualisation, whilst working closely with the animation team and graphic designers. This opportunity allowed me to further improve my skills in animation.

Question time

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of the media world, I am a huge car enthusiast which means I’ve learnt to weld, paint and a lot more about cars than I ever thought I would. My second biggest hobby is FPV drones, which can reach speeds of over 100mph, whilst allowing you to capture very dynamic, high-energy, shots that are impossible with a normal drone.

What are some of your proudest achievements?

Being dyslexic I’ve always struggled with the traditional education system, so my biggest achievement is achieving a first class degree in CGI and visual effects, including a 6,000 word dissertation.

Another proud moment for me was being featured as an artist’s highlight by ‘Speedtree’ which is the software used on films like the Jungle Book, Iron Man and many others.

What’s your ambition?

I’m motivated by wanting to consistently improve my video production skills and push them to the next level!

What’s your favourite film?

That’s a difficult one, though I am a huge fan of Star Wars, Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith being a stand out, and Marvel – I’ve most recently enjoyed Wanda Vision. Honourable mentions would include Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Avatar and Inception for their technical abilities.

Isaac joins the team hot on the heels of filmmaker Adam Chamberlain and digital marketing apprentice Adam Corbett. If you have an idea for a film or animation project contact the team today – we’d love to hear from you!
