Hey I’m Amy, head of film here at 7video. I thought I’d take some time to tell you a little about myself and what I bring to the team!
I love all things film and in my early teens I was making stop motion animation (very badly) on prehistoric equipment, but I knew there and then that I wanted to pursue a future in some kind of film-making.
Fast forward a “few” years and here I am one year into my role at 7video working with a brilliant team of filmmakers, animators and … Ben, our business development manager.
My journey here has been an exciting one and as someone who is very passionate about charities and good causes, I have a vast amount of experience within those areas to bring to the table. A few examples:
I’ve volunteered in sustainable farming in Fiji, I’ve been part of the Global Citizen programme with the British Youth Council working with young people in Sri Lanka; I’ve spent 3 months in Zambia running awareness workshops/events for young adults, I’ve been an art facilitator for Mind Charity and I’ve documented the charity M10 Missions and their valuable work in Mexico.
These rewarding and heart-warming opportunities have given me an empathetic approach to working with people, understanding the key messages of such organisations and I love to be involved in films that celebrate this.
After lecturing in media and film production at Staffordshire University for three years, I decided to get back to my roots with a camera in my hand and here I am today!
Please do get in touch if you feel we can work together on creating some beautiful and heartwarming content!
Question time
What brought you to 7video?
Having spent a long time in the wedding video industry, I have developed a keen eye for a good shot and the heart for editing. Telling people’s stories is my passion.
What are your interests outside of work?
I enjoy working within the Third Sector and have a huge appreciation for organisations and people who try to make the world a better place. As someone who has worked with charities throughout my career, I believe having a caring nature and understanding of situations is one of the many key assets I can bring to the company.
What is your favourite film?
Titanic. I don’t think I’ve ever been so in love with two characters and I sob every time I see it.
Who would you most like to meet?
This would have to be the famous primatologist Jane Goodall. I would love a brew and chinwag with her so I can get lost in the mysteries surrounding chimpanzees!
