Building up a picture of what a company does on a daily basis can be a valuable aid when it comes to reaching a wider audience. So when multi-award winning Base Architects approached us to make such a video, we knew exactly what to focus on!

The company asked us to produce a video that showed a day in the life of the firm,  showcasing the different stages of work as well as the final designs fully built – and we were delighted to help.

Base Architects has offices in Shrewsbury, Chester and Conwy, has an expanding client base with experience of working on projects across the UK and is very aware of the power video brings to promoting a business.

The brief

– To create an artistic and engaging film

-Showcase what Base Architects is all about

-Follow the journey from the start of the working day

-Film in an artistic style

-Engage all types of audience with the look and feel of the film

Base Architects has worked on literally hundreds of projects over the years and one of the first things we needed to do was decide which of the properties would be the best to show what the company has to offer.

We worked closely with the team at Base throughout the process and during our pre-production meetings we considered a number of projects before coming up with a shortlist of the best of the best.

Filming

We needed to create a film which appealed to both private clients looking to build their home and corporate clients wanting to build large scale schemes.

Filming in late autumn and early winter always throws up the unpredictability of the British weather. We needed to choose the right days for filming when the weather would be at it’s kindest. This meant working with Base Architects through a flexible approach to filming dates, often confirming only the day before filming based on the weather forecast.

Even then the weather was not always on our side which meant the sky was often grey, however we managed to fix this in post-production by replacing boring flat skies with more dramatic backgrounds.

Filming flexibility with the company was also needed when it came to capturing the construction phase of the projects. We were also helped here by one of Base’s clients who were in the process of building their main house.

They had already completed a beautifully designed lake house so we were able to capture the building phase and a completed build in one shoot!

The final film included black and white to show scenes from the past, however, the occasional glimpse of orange shines through the black and white images.

It was an interesting project to be involved with and one both we and Base Architects are extremely pleased with.
