YouTube is one of the most powerful marketing tools on the web, yet many businesses don't know how to harness its full potential.

That was the message from multi-media company 7video, which today launched a new service for companies looking to increase their online presence.

More than 100 million videos are viewed each day on the popular video sharing platform, a market which 7video says remains remarkably untapped in the county.

Director Peter Sims said businesses should be taking advantage of online video to reach a wider audience, with YouTube a vital part of the marketing mix.

He said: “YouTube has grown to become one of the largest online communication tools in the world. It has the potential to increase a business's online presence dramatically for a fraction of traditional marketing costs.

“Of course the benefit of a professionally, produced video on YouTube, either as an advert, to demonstrate a product or a service, or simply to be an interactive part of a company website, is that it is available to be found 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's a marketing tool working for businesses all the time.”

Peter added: “We know that many companies want to have a go at creating their own videos. It's fantastic to see businesses in Shropshire beginning to become aware of the opportunities created by having a presence on YouTube.

“But we're also aware of how a badly-produced video, with limited sound and lighting quality, can also create a poor impression of the company on the web. We've actually been called in at short notice to re-take videos for companies who realised that a wobbly film, produced with a hand-held camcorder without a suitable microphone, didn't portray the professional image the company was aiming for.

“We're at Expo today and are certainly happy to give some tips to companies on how best to achieve the right result. But because we are keen to help companies explore the YouTube market, we're launching a service which will see us produce a short television-advert style video for under £750. That's filming on site, editing and importantly, putting the result on YouTube where it can be found.

“With millions of videos on the platform, its no good just uploading it and hoping customers will find it. We know the correct links, information and captioning to accompany the video to ensure as many eyes as possible see the result – otherwise, quite frankly, there's no point in doing it at all. You have to signpost the video to the audience so it can be found.

“Of course, although this can be uploaded onto YouTube, it's also available in a variety of formats for companies to use on their webpage, in presentations and exhibitions.”

7Video would be delighted to speak to any companies wishing to explore corporate videos and online multi-media productions in further detail.
